DADS THAT ARE ALSO RUG DEALERS

Help a girl out: Who doesn’t love a beautiful Persian rug? I grew up with them all around the house. As a child I loved them because the intricate patterns would disguise anything I accidentally spilled on them.

We came across @elgolxxi trying to help out her Dad’s rug business.

So if you or a loved one is looking for a gorgeous antique central Asian rug - or need the one handed down in your family restored and fixed - check her out and see if we can support her dad & Seneh Carpets… I already texted my mom.

What brings you to Outta Town? 🍋

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Just dreaming... (52.94%)

🟨🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ I am seriously looking to buy a new home

🟨🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ I just like real estate & home content

We also got some more qualitative insight:

We’ll continue to scope out dream-worthy properties as well as design-focused accounts for the home & living lovers. 🥰🥰🥰 While most of you are just dreaming (for now!) there are a few hundred seriously looking to buy a new home…

For those looking to seriously make the move from the USA to Europe, I did so myself (@madelinelawren speaking). My family moved to Catalunya when I was very young, and I have lived in 4+ countries in Europe since. I confess being a European citizen has helped me, but there are many great resources for Non-EU people (especially North American) and how to make the big move. Here are some good resources for France, Italy, and Portgual:

  • 🇫🇷 La Vie en Eose: Check out Lily Chérie and her blog “How to move to France: Practical Tips from an Expat”. I particularly like how she outlines “3 “Easy” (and 1 Long-Term) Ways to Move to France”
  • 🇮🇹 La Dolce Vita? Check out @aNewLifeinItaly and their new series: “A New Life in Italy - Tuscany Stories" that showcases the life-changing stories of five North Americans who dared to make Tuscany their new home. Very practical tips from the people who have done it!

  • 🇵🇹 Bon Dia: Over 10,000 US citizens moved to Portgual last year. Real estate agent Erin Charlotte has capitalized on that and makes lots of social content for interested US buyers.

**Authors note: While Portugal is dreamy, it is important to note that Portugal is experiencing a cost of living crisis. They are one of the countries most affected by the rising costs of living, significantly driven by rising inflation, low wages, international buyers, and tax-scheme residents in Lisbon and around. Rents in Porgual - while ‘cheap’ in comparison to London, New York, California - have hit record high, growing 11% more expensive in just 1 quarter.

Aaron and I have personally experienced this crisis in cities we’ve lived in the past, namely: Dublin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Berlin.

Good news: there are SO many regions we spotlight on Outta Town that are in desperate need of new life and rejuvenation, that face ‘demise’ due to aging population and depopulation. The impact you can have on renovating and supporting these communities can be immense.
